Last week, I was in Chicago for the Internet Retailer show. Didn't really learn anything new (although it was worth going to meet all of our current and potential vendors), but I did end up going to Guitar Center's annual Guitarmageddon event, the nation's largest amateur guitar competition. I had VIP tickets and a private box, so I felt vaguely fancy. I met John Mayer who was waiting to go on with BB King, the special guest of the night. He sat next to me for at least a half hour before I knew he was even there. The quiet type, you know. Anyway, my big brush with fame--the waitress dropped my drink tokens on the ground and he had to help me pick them up by using the light from his blackberry. Ah, technology.
