As part of my book club, we're reading The Landmark Edition of Thucydides. Robert Strassler, the editor of the edition which focused on creating a reading experience that makes Thucydides accessible to novices, joined us for a day at the Met looking at Greek art and a private dinner just with the book club members. From the far left, that's Robert, Phil Terry's cousin, Andre, a Latin teacher, Phil's best friend Pat Wictor, and Phil's on the far right. Robert was kind enough to bring with him a working manuscript of his next edition, Herodotus's Histories, which will be published next year.
